Together, Pastors Jeff and Tammy Krist have the joy and privilege of leading Gateway Assembly in Imlay City, Michigan since 1998. They are the proud parents of three married sons — David (Cidney), Stephen (Janelle), and Luke (Kayleigh), and grateful grandparents to eight grandchildren, all by the faithfulness of the Lord. Now as a fourth-generation pastoral family, their legacy of faith continues as they passionately serve Gateway to see the work of the Lord flourish in every generation.

Since 1998, God has used Pastor Jeff’s leadership to help Gateway grow not only into a thriving, multi-generational church, but also a global ministry through online streaming and Gateway Global events. He holds a bachelor’s degree from Southeastern University and carries a deep passion for preaching God’s Word with clarity, truth, and life-changing power.

Tammy has her ministry license and is known for her relevant, heartfelt, and relatable teaching style that speaks directly to everyday life. As the leader of Gateway Women, she carries a powerful anointing to encourage, nurture, and strengthen women of all ages. Her heart for prayer, stewardship, and excellence helps ensure that everything God has entrusted to Gateway is cared for with wisdom, grace, and love.

WHAT WE BELIEVE

  • Jesus Is Our Why

Jesus gave us our purpose, so now He is our mission. Everything we do stems from the freedom we have in Christ. We teach that daily investments create an eternal relationship with Jesus. We bare the responsibility to make Him known. Jesus hasn’t stopped and neither will we.

    We Are Family

Come as you are. Everyone is welcome in the family. God created us to function as one and when we put ourselves aside to join in the collective movement, we are unstoppable for God. We cannot be for the One, or reach the one, until we are one.

    We Get To SERV

Our faith is active and we serve knowing our gifts were given to bring growth both ourselves and the Kingdom. We serve to be the reflection of Jesus. No matter the task, big or small, we count it a privilege to serve. Taking care of this house makes it our home.

    This Heart Loves

The people are not going to come to us. We must go to the people. We are willing to overcome any obstacle, inconvenience or sacrifice to deliver love. We unapologetically make any effort possible to reach the one. This Heart Loves our city, nation, and world.

    Worship is Our Way

We were created to praise and so we clothe ourselves in the lifestyle of worship. Worship unlocks an encounter for God to move and mold us.

    Pursuers of the Presence

The Holy Spirit brings life into the church. We pursue the presence of God by inviting the Holy Spirit to create, cultivate, and carry an environment of encounters for us to connect with God. We follow the Spirit to catch a glimpse of God.

    Givers Not Getters

We believe it is better to give than to get. Aiming to model the same generosity Jesus exemplifies, we take great joy in the sacrifice of giving more than expected. When we are generous with our time, talents, and treasures, the Kingdom advances.

    This is Just The Start

God has done the impossible; and we continue to grow in passion for the vision He births inside of us. With listening ears and open hearts, we will continue to climb higher than ever before. We don’t know what will come next, but we do know that this is just the start.

These values are strong pillars in Gateway. As a church, we base every decision on whether it aligns or not with these values. It is important to us that we stay true to who we are and display consistency with Scripture.

  • See how we view God, Jesus, the Bible, man, and many significant aspects of our faith. Firmly rooted in scripture, the beliefs of Gateway guide our decisions as a church.

    The Bible

The Bible is God’s Word to all people. It was written by human authors under the supernatural guidance of the Holy Spirit. Because it was inspired by God, the Bible is truth without any mixture of error and is completely relevant to our daily lives.

    Trinity

God has existed in relationship with Himself for all eternity. He exists as one substance in three persons: the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit. Although each member of the Trinity serves different functions, they each possess equal power and authority.

    The Father

God is great: He is all-powerful, all-knowing, ever-present, unchanging, completely worthy of our trust, and above all, holy. It is in Him that we live, move, and exist. God is good. He is our Father. He is loving, compassionate, and faithful to His people and His promises.

    The Son

Jesus Christ was completely human but, at the same time, completely God. He is the only plan for bringing people who are far from God back into a right relationship with God. He lived a perfect life, so that He could be a substitution for us in satisfying God’s demands for perfection. He defeated death in His resurrection so that we can have life.

    The Holy Spirit

The Holy Spirit’s presence assures us of our relationship with Christ. He guides believers into all truth and exalts Christ. He convicts people of their sin, God’s righteousness, and the coming judgment. He comforts us, gives us spiritual gifts, and makes us more like Christ.

    Eternity

People were created to exist forever. They will exist either eternally separated from God by sin or in union with God through forgiveness and salvation. To be eternally separated from God is Hell. To be eternally in union with Him is Heaven. Heaven and Hell are places of eternal existence.

    Man

Man is made in the image of God and is the supreme object of His creation. Man was created to have fellowship with God but became separated in that relationship through sinful disobedience. As a result, man cannot attain a right relationship with God through his own effort. Every human personality is uniquely created, possesses dignity, and is worthy of respect and Christian love.

    Salvation

The blood of Jesus Christ, shed on the cross, provides the only way of salvation through the forgiveness of sin. Salvation occurs when people place their faith in the death and resurrection of Christ as sufficient payment for their sin. Salvation is a gift from God, and it cannot be earned through our own efforts.

    The Church

The Church is a community of believers unified through faith in Christ. It is committed to the teachings of Christ and obeying all of His commands, and it seeks to bring the gospel to the world. The Church works together in love and unity, intent on the ultimate purpose of glorifying Christ.

At Gateway, you will find a church family that is passionate about worship, grounded in biblical truth, and committed to building authentic relationships. Our prayer is that you feel at home from the moment you walk through our doors and that you encounter the presence of God in a powerful and personal way.

We invite you to join us — there is a place for you here.
